King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

Does the Australian wonder-group King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard ever sleep? Or are all seven of them hyped up all night, gazing into lava-lamps, listening to a Sargent Pepper LP and creating some of the best damn garage-psych to ever grace our great nations shore? Based on their almost unbelievable work ethic from the last few years, definitely the latter.
A couple of weeks ago the lad’s dropped their latest video for Hot Wax; an acid-fuelled, post-apocalyptic, psychedelic masterpiece, complete with trancelike animation, plastered over a rocking snare beat and screaming harmonica melodies.

The tune alone speaks as testimony to the incredible work ethic, out-there creativity and raw talent that these longhairs have somehow maintained over the last few years. And although the boys wouldn’t stand out knocking back a cold one in any run-down pub, their uniquely vintage, yet avant-garde psychedelic surf pop sound can only keep growing. As I type this currently, the band is touring over America, playing the Austin Psych festival and supporting fellow industry legends, Thee Oh Sees.
So throw on your dad’s old denim jacket, pick up case of XXXX, and call your boys around to scream some sloppy King Gizzard at the top of your dirty lungs all night long.
